This collection consists mostly of research done by Roberts on Connecticut horology. It includes photocopies of articles, catalogs, and books, as well as patent research. This includes several reference requests to the United States Patent Office. This collection has copies of maps of Connecticut from circa 1850 and portraits of C. Jerome and E. Ingraham.

This collection also contains some correspondence between Roberts and other individuals concerning family clocks. There are a number of photographs, however many of these photographs are not labeled.

Due to personal financial information, parts of this collection are RESTRICTED. The document(s) in question can only be accessed by Kenneth D. Roberts and his spouse/descendants, the NAWCC Board of Directors, and by specific individuals at the NAWCC Headquarters, namely the Executive Director, the Museum Director, and the Controller. These restrictions will remain in place until November 9, 2092.

Conditions Governing Use

These records are open to researchers for personal or scholarly research. Most of the records in the collection are available for photocopy, depending on the preservation needs of the material as well as other variables not specified here. Researchers, however, are responsible for obtaining copyright permission to use materials and documents. These records are part of the permanent collection in the archives of the Library & Research Center of the National Watch and Clock Museum and researchers are required to comply with the Archive Rules when using the collection.

Biographical / Historical

Kenneth Roberts worked as curator for the American Watch and Clock Museum in Bristol, Connecticut. He collected manuscripts on "Connecticut Clocks 1840-1880" for a book. He had his own publishing company called Kenneth Roberts Publishing, which published books on clocks and horology.

This collection was processed and partially described before May 2016. During the Summer of 2016, the collection was revisited and the archival description was expanded. It is uncleaar if the order of the collection present at the time of the revision accurately reflected the original order.
