David S. Gourley Collection

This collection contains various horological patents, including an original patent of David S. Gourley of an alarm mechanism for clocks from the 1930s. A number of the patents are copies that belonged to a patent lawyer, Watson Coleman.

Additionally, this collection contains several drawings and illustrations that are associated with Gourley's inventions. Most of these drawings are rough and are not identified or dated.

Most of the records in the collection are available for photocopy, depending on the preservation needs of the material as well as other variables not specified here. These records are part of the permanent collection in the archives of the Library & Research Center of the National Watch and Clock Museum and researchers are required to comply with the Archive Rules when using the collection.
