Norwegian Calendar Stick Key and Photographs, not dated

 File

This smaller collection includes drawings, plans, and photographs related to the astronomical clocks created by Rasmus Sørnes during the mid-20th Century. The language used to label the drawings in this collection is Norwegian, as Sørnes was from Norway. A small number of the illustrations have hand-written English translations. Many of the drawings relate to the astronomical elements of creating an astronomical clock. There are illustrations involving calculations of the planets, sun, and moon.

There are also a couple of pages on a Primstav, a Norwegian Calendar Stick. This includes information on the Winter side and the Summer side of the calendar stick. Norwegian Calendar sticks include runic illustrations that indicate different dates, and the pages included in this collection explain, in Norwegian, what dates these illustrations correspond with.

These documents were used by Rasmus Sørnes' son, Tor Sørnes. Tor Sørnes used these records to write the book, Klokkemakeren, Rasmus Sørnes, which was first published in 2003.
