Dennison, Franklin
Person
Born in 1854 in the United States to Aaron Lufkin Dennison and Charlotte Ware Foster Dennison, Franklin was the youngest of five children. His father was a notable watchmaker and had helped found several companies, including the American/Swiss Waltham Watch Company, and later the English Dennison Watch Case Company, in which Franklin became a partner upon his father’s death in 1895. The company would outlive him as it outlived his father, ultimately lasting until 1967. Franklin was also well-known for his garden’s prize-winning roses. He died in England in April of 1934, leaving a widow, Ellen, two sons, and a daughter.
